Topic:  JAZZ ENSEMBLE

• Anderson Center Osterhout Concert Theater

• Join our Harpur Jazz Ensemble for a free high energy quartet performance. 

• Trombonist Melissa Gardiner has performed with several legendary musicians including Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Geri Allen, Wycliffe Gordon, Arturo O'Farrill's Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Dave Matthews Band, and Vulfpeck. As a bandleader, she has released three albums, Transitions (2011), Second Line Syracuse (2016), and Empowered (2019) which features prominent jazz women Tia Fuller (Beyonce) and Ingrid Jensen. Gardiner has won several awards as a bandleader including two Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS) for Best Jazz Album, and grand prize winner at the International Jazz Competition in Bucharest, Romania (2018). In addition to an active performance career, Gardiner has teaching credentials at Syracuse University, Le Moyne College and Cornell University and has been recognized as an outstanding educator in the Liverpool High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame (2018) and the SAMMYS Hall of Fame (2019). Gardiner received her BFA from The University of Michigan and MM from The Juilliard School. She is a BAC artist and plays a BAC Custom Trombone. www.melissamaymusic.com
• Parking: Exit at ground level of the Parking Garage and cross Parking Lot D towards the west side of the building (look for the wall of windows). The main entrance is located at the top of the exterior steps.
  Please note: For disability parking and pickup/dropoff, take the first exit from the traffic circle and the first left into Parking Lot C.

• Through the Lens of Occupational Therapy: This presentation is designed for individuals who want to learn about what to expect and how to successfully recover from a total joint replacement. Clinical Associate Professor Alyson Pasquale, OTD, MS, OTR/L, will provide strategies and recommendations to improve your quality of life and manage daily activities before and after your procedure. 

Due to retiree requests, we will be offering a live zoom meeting for this workshop. This will allow you to join us if you are unable to attend in person.

• Come and find out what Google Earth can do for you. Expand your geographical knowledge with a variety of projects and tools. Topics include: navigation, Google Street view and Google Earth projects. You will be able to tour the world or plan your trips and vacations.

  Please RSVP since the workshop is limited to 10 attendees who will gain hands-on experience on navigating Google Earth.  Zoom attendees will be able to watch but not interact directly.

  1. Take the main stairs down from the Bartle Library lobby.
  2. Turn right.
  3. The UCTD is located directly off the main landing area (across from the vending machines).

For in-person workshops, guests requiring a garage parking pass can pick up their pass at the Information Booth as you enter the University and by providing your name and the name of the event. Feel free to bring family members or friends to any of our events.
